YUMMY DATE NIGHT IDEAS IN HOUSTON
There’s no doubt that the cravings set in during pregnancy! Maybe even food aversions too! If you’re a soon-to-be dad reading this, make sure you’re well-versed on mommas aversions first before venturing out on a yummy Houston date night!
It might be a while until you get to go to a nice restaurant after baby arrives. So take advantage now and head over to some of my favorites:
Perry’s Steakhouse 1997 West Gray St., Houston, TX 77019
The Melting Pot 6100 Westheimer Rd Suite #146, Houston, TX 77057
Texas Roadhouse 9747 North Sam Houston Parkway East Humble, TX 77396
Enjoy the quiet, uninterrupted conversation while you can! Another fun idea would be to take mom out craving-hopping! Crepes (my favorite are from Coco’s crepes, 218 Gray St, Houston, TX 77002), or ice cream sundaes, waffles, noodles, hamburgers, whatever she pleases! I once heard an old wives tale that if you deny a pregnant woman her cravings, the baby will be born with a birthmark in the shape of that food! ha! Even more reason to go out on a yummy Houston date night!
SEE-A-SHOW DATE NIGHTS
What’s better than sitting and enjoying some great entertainment? I know when I was pregnant, I was exhausted all the time and just wanted to take a break! For a Houston date night idea before baby arrives, why not see one of your favorite shows? Think about a comedy show at the Houston Improv (7620 Katy Fwy #45, Houston, TX 77024), a rooftop movie screening at Rooftop Cinema Club (1700 Post Oak Blvd 5th Level, Houston, TX 77056), or a classic Astros baseball game at Minute Maid park.
Perhaps your style is more classic, head over to the Houston Symphony (615 Louisiana St #102, Houston, TX 77002), or catch a show at the Wortham Center (501 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002). Whatever it is, sit back and enjoy laughs, snacks, and just quiet company before your hands are full!
PAMPER YOURSELF DATE NIGHTS
If it’s one thing you should cross of this Houston date night list, it’s a massage! Whether you decide to get pampered with a pregnancy massage or just getting a nice foot rub at home, growing a baby is hard and you deserve the treat momma! Opt for a couples massage for an extra romantic touch! Some of the best in town include a pre-natal massage at Milk + Honey (2800 Kirby Dr Suite A-134, Houston, TX 77098) (you can even purchase a gift certificate ahead of time here) or check out a variety of massage types at the Motherhood Center (3701 W Alabama St Suite 230, Houston, TX 77027) including pre-natal, labor preparation and induction massage.
An exception to the rule of: no summer outdoor activities for a pregnant momma in Houston is - relaxing by the pool! How about a staycation as a date night for you two? Take a dip in the Texas-shaped pool at the Houston Marriott Marquis (1777 Walker St, Houston, TX 77010), or grab a towel and head to Galveston beach! Not to mention when you are preggers and tired of lifting that belly, a dip in the pool helps to alleviate some of that weight and you’ll feel oh-so relaxed! Just imagine the awesome nap you’ll have afterwards!
NESTING DATE NIGHTS
I had to come back and mention the Motherhood Center again because it is SUCH an amazing resource for mommas and a great Houston date night idea! Feeling the nesting urge? Need some tips and advice? Want to take some infant CPR classes? The Motherhood Center has it all! You can go in and shop breastfeeding supplies, prep for baby with parenting classes, and just get nested with all the resources there!
One of the best things I did with my first born was grab one of my best girl friends (who already had a baby) and go out to a local baby store. (At the time it was Buy Buy Baby) She took me aisle by aisle in each section and explained all the baby supplies to me while I added things to my registry. It was incredibly helpful since many first time parents walk into the baby aisle and have no idea what they’re looking at. It satisfied so much of my need for planning and nesting! Needless to say, I felt so much better prepared after that trip! Grab a friend and make a girl-date out of it!
BELLY PHOTO OP DATES
Ok - so of course as a photographer, I’m going to tell you that you should absolutely capture this special moment in your life with tons of photos! Make a date night out of it and head over to some cute Houston locations for a belly bump photo op!
Some of my favorites include Mercer Botanic Gardens (22306 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX 77338), or imagine all the cool belly photo ops at Seismique (2306 S Texas 6, Houston, TX 77077) Houston’s interactive art museum. Or what about a cute bump pic at the butterfly center at The Houston Museum of Natural Science? (5555 Hermann Park Dr, Houston, TX 77030)
Don’t forget, I’d love to help capture this special moment with a maternity session with you and your partner. Head over to my Maternity Gallery to see more of my work and reach out to schedule your session! Maternity sessions are usually done within weeks 28-32 of your pregnancy.
I hope you’ve gathered a few ideas for your date night! Remember, the important thing is to spend time together and really appreciate this next phase opening in your lives. That last month may be hard momma, but I promise you that little bundle of joy will be worth it!
