“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”
It's important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. At my Houston studio, I have years of experience working with newborns and their families. I'm dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. Please do not choose someone solely based on their price. Remember, you are handing your fresh newborn baby to a stranger. You want that person to be experienced, prepared, and professional. “What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”
During a newborn photography session, I'll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process. You can include your family members in the photos, and I encourage parents and siblings to participate in this special moment. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.
To capture the best moments, it's important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible, ideally within the first 2-3 weeks of your baby's life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.
If you decide to work with me for your Houston newborn session, we will first have a consultation call to chat more details and better prepare you and baby for your upcoming session. I work with you on desired poses, props, outfits, and color choices. I’ll prepare everything ahead of your session and make sure our session runs smoothly.
I’ve got tons of experience with toddler siblings and babies! So if anyone fusses, it’s no fuss! I have a ton of patience and tricks up my sleeve to help ensure we capture some great images. Baby is my little boss and I can shift my workflow depending on what baby will and won’t let me do.
“Do I need to bring anything?”
You don't need to bring much to the session as most of the items your baby will need will be provided by the studio, including: props, backdrops, outfits, swaddles and headbands. However, if there is a personal item that you would like to incorporate into the photos, like a special heirloom or jewelry, let me know and I’d love to incorporate it!
In the past I’ve had clients bring everything from IVF needles, bibles, wedding rings, personalized blankets or firefighter helmets! I’d limit these to 1-2 items, since we’d still want the focus of our session to be timeless and classic images.
“When will I get my photos?”
After the session, you can expect to receive your proofing gallery within one week. You’ll then mark your favorites to be retouched and place your order. I offer a range of packages that include both digital files and products like wall art, albums or prints. I'm happy to work with you to create a customized package that meets your specific needs. After about 2-3 weeks, you’ll receive your final images ready for download and your products will be ordered and delivered. Rush options are also available if you’d like a sneak peek of any one image, or your full gallery.
“How much does newborn photography cost?”
Your final order is completely customizable and you can always add on additional images or products. Packages begin at $450. Reach out for detailed pricing information. Average client investment is $600-$1500. If this seems like a significant investment, keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I'm dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you'll cherish for a lifetime!
